Interview with Marek Kiczkowiak
Interview with Marek Kiczkowiak
Interview description
Marek shares his work in raising awareness of native speakerism with employers, teacher training organisations and customers. Marek looks at the need to discuss global English, address the different training needs and prepare trainees and learners expectations as best we can.
Reducing the demand for native English speaking teachers

I am a Non - Native English Teacher
I am a Non- Native English Online Teacher looking for the line of work for a long time.
The biggest problem is my nonnativeness.
I have been offering English Conversational Online Courses for some time and had a lot of students participating for free.
Alas, when it comes to paid courses, nobody has decided to sign, nonetheless.
I would require the necessary question about how dependable is a teacher, what science does he use, what are the methods and the teaching effectiveness.

IATEFL Online Conference in Glasgow
Online coverage of the Annual International IATEFL Conference & Exhibition in Glasgow, 2017
I have just become an IATEFL Online Registered Blogger.
Unfortunately, I cannot join the Conference. Personally, I am willing to 'attend virtually' (or sometimes follow an online coverage) and share the knowledge with other instructors from around the globe.
Following my previous year experience, I am willing to write a few blog posts about the video content (streamed or recorded interviews or video sessions) published on the IATEFL Online site during the 2017 IATEFL Conference.

ELTJ Signature Event - This house believes that teacher training is a waste of time
Presenter(s):
Session details:
Many people assume that a training course is valuable – even essential – preparation for professional English language teaching. But does training really help ... or is it just a waste of time and money? Should we call a halt to teacher training? Our two speakers will debate the issues. Please come along, have your say, ask questions – and join in the vote.

Session details:
Migration has become an increasingly debated topic over the last few years. The language and assessment industry is part of the debate and should have a sound position on its own rather than allowing policy-makers to dominate the discourse. However, important questions still remain open.
For example, how much language really is needed for participation in society? The telc signature event will explore the language needs of migrants as well as the role of mainstream society.
The following speakers have been invited to contribute different perspectives in the panel discussion:
Piet Van Avermaet, Director of the Centre for Diversity and Learning, Ghent University, Belgium
Horatio Clare, writer, journalist and broadcaster
Sibylle Plassmann, head of test development telc – language tests
Nick Saville, ALTE Manager
Representative of the British Council (TBD)

3 Tips for Capitalizing on Your Students’ Digital Literacy Skills - Top Hat Blog
This is very important article for teaching with technology approaches.
I am a lifelong learner and a teacher.
I would like my students to follow new ways of learning.
3 Tips for Capitalizing on Your Students’ Digital Literacy Skills - Top Hat Blog:
Digital literacy is one of the few skills that we don’t formally teach in the classroom, probably because it is one of the few skills that the students are more comfortable with than the instructors. I have never had to hold a class of the proper use of hashtags. Nor have I ever been forced to discuss the intricacies of the Facebook “like” vs “dislike” buttons debate. Surprisingly, I have never once thought, “you know what we need in this class, a close examination of Vine videos”…Maybe I should start thinking this way, because the literacy that I learned with a pen and pencil has long since been replaced by the language of daily communication: digital literacy. This new-age literacy comes out of the rise of integrated social networking. To clarify, this network has become all encompassing. Every time you..

I have been teaching for over 40
years.
In my view, teacher training
courses are crucial for improving my teaching. I
have been participating in many of them. As a lifelong learner, I feel I need
to make a statement that it has always been a challenge, pleasure and a great fulfillment.
I have learnt a
lot.
Nowadays I am
doing some online courses for Teachers.

Future of Education Halina MMVC15
My Hopes for the Future Education
"Education is simply the soul of a
society as it passes from one generation to another."
- G.K. Chesterton
My hope is that teachers will make
learning personalized rather than standardized for everyone. My hope allows to improve students’ creativity and teachers increase that natural curiosity with learners. Curiosity is the basis of innovation. Curiosity will power our world to progress.
My hope is that you charge the power of technology in thoughtful and incredible ways. Applied science can connect everyone, everywhere, at whatever time. We should use it to our advantage.
I hope for everyone to be able to discover the things you are passionate about.
I also hope that you have remarkable, encouraging educators and mentors who try groundbreaking and wild teaching techniques to help you grow as a learner.
My hope is you are ready for the challenges as well as the failure.
Making mistakes is a way to learn. It’s not about the disaster; it’s how you respond to the failure.
And finally my hope is that your school is different from most of the current transactional learning models, where the students are consumers of education.
Lastly, I hope for people to be just educational learners fitted in transformational learning approach with opportunity for active, creative and profound personal development. Education can take place anywhere and at anytime. It is not only about reading, writing, and learning mathematical practices.
Knowledge is wide-ranging. It’s breathing. Learning is the future.
“I am not a teacher, but an awakener.”
